Paul D. Brazill’s books include Guns Of Brixton, Too Many Crooks, A Case Of Noir, and Kill Me Quick! He was born in England and lives in Poland. His writing has been translated into Italian, Finnish, Polish, German and Slovene. He has had writing published in various magazines and anthologies, including The Mammoth Books of Best British Crime.

What got you into writing?

It was something I’d considered and dabbled with but it was only when I got hooked on flash fiction that I made more of an effort. Sites like Six Sentences, A Twist Of Noir, PowderBurn Flash, and Beat To A Pulp.  Sadly, most of those are now defunct.

What inspires you?

The ridiculous.

The mistaken belief that everything is going to plan.

What makes you write even when the nights are long, your fingers aches and your eyes droop?

Oh, I’m not so dedicated! I write when I have the time and inclination. The world won’t end if I don’t write. I enjoy it, for the most part. I’m not a tortured artist!

Are you a traditionalist (print) or a new-wave (ebook)?

Both are fine by me but I’m an old bloke and holding a print book makes the writing seem more real, even though I know it isn’t

Do you have a publisher or did you go the self-publishing route?

I have publishers for all of my current books: 13 Shots Of Noir (Untreed Reads), Guns Of Brixton, Cold London Blues (Caffeine Nights), The Last Laugh (All Due Respect), Kill Me Quick! (Number 13 Press), Too Many Crooks, A Case Of Noir, Big City Blues (Near to The Knuckle). I’ve tried self-publishing but prefer someone else to do the heavy lifting.

What do you aspire to achieve if you haven’t already and how can ‘we’ help?

I’m just happy to keep plodding along doing what I do and happy that people read and enjoy my stuff. It’s all a bonus, really.
