What got you interested in writing?

Reading Dean Koontz books at 12 years old. I was hooked and thought it would be the coolest job in the world to do. While my friends wanted to be cops and firemen and football stars I wanted to be an author.

Tell us a little about your chosen genre.

Horror fiction has always been a huge part of my life. Even though I’m also a huge fan of crime thrillers, fantasy, contemporary fiction, etc. it is always horror that I go back to. I like the danger of reading and writing it. The no-rules when it comes to the rules.

What are your happiest memories in your writing career?

My first big contract, which was for Miami Spy Games, written for a Hollywood movie company. It helped me make the switch from full-time retail manager to full-time writer. It also helped the ego, boosting me enough to know I could do this for a living.

How do you handle success and failure?

By keeping it all in perspective. I am truly living the dream. I might have bad weeks or months, hardly selling a book. I might not be into the groove of writing and a deadline is looming and stressing me out. Life gets in the way of just sitting and writing all day. And yet… I’m still doing what I’ve always dreamed of doing. I’m a full-time author and pay my bills because of my creativity.

What makes you write when you’re exhausted and your fingers ache?

The fear I won’t finish a story in time. I’ve never missed a deadline and the fear is if I do I’ll start missing them like mad. It might be irrational but it motivates me to give 100%, even when I’m sick or just want to do something else.

What is your advice to young and new writers?

Read. Everything you can get your hands on. Especially out of your genre. You need to learn how all fiction works, not just what you like. I’ve read a lot of romance books to learn the structure and the tropes. Everything you read you can use in the future for your own stories.

Are you a traditionalist or a digital? (paper or eBook)

Both. I have a Kindle. I am a huge fan of Kindle Unlimited, reading 4-6 nonfiction books each month as well as 1 or 2 fiction books. I also have a paperback next to my recliner in the living room and a print book in the bathroom.

Do you blog?

On and off. I go through periods where I think no one is reading it anymore, so I put my energy into my podcasts or my Patreon page. Then I’ll get the bug to write a bunch of posts or have guest posts from other authors on http://armandrosamilia.com

Do you self-publish?

Yes. I’m a hybrid author. I do about half of my releases as a self-published author and the other half working with small presses. Not just one, either. I’m a firm believer in not having all of my eggs in one basket.

If you have a publication or promotion – tell us.

Necromance_book_armand_rosamila

My latest release is Necromance, a supernatural thriller.

My name is Cheri Rose Thorne.

I spend my life hunting Vamps and Fiends and killing them, but my main goal has always been to destroy my evil father while keeping my sisters at bay.

Sex, drugs and rock and roll keep me going. Oh, and killing things.

This supernatural horror thriller will keep you turning the pages. I promise.

Thank you for the interview!
